Occupation: Lecturer

Biography:

My name is Romane Romon Elliston, however, I go by Romon. I am a polyglot, specialising in Patois, English, Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian. I am also an educator, author, poet, motivational speaker, and youtuber. Two of my philosophies in life are : «Your world is as big as, as expansive as, your imagination» and «You develop your greatest skills during your free time». I stand as a testimony of both, my imagination has no limits, hence, what I am capable of is unimaginable; and my free time is always dedicated to my interests: languages, writing, self-development, culture and community building.

Vision for Jaminfrance:

"My vision is to continue promoting brand Jamaica in France and Europe at large, which is not limited to just our culture but also our people. I will further strengthen the association’s image of inclusiveness, diversity, solidarity, and integration by collaborating with other organisations throughout Europe and beyond, that will epitomize the true meaning of our motto « out of many one people». With the aid of my team, we will endeavour to create an organisation that functions as an autonomous vehicle, solidifying structures and procedures that operate at optimal efficiency. Finally, we stand for transparency, unity, peace and love." - R. Elliston

Ms. Kadie-Ann Fyffe
3
7 years old
[
92 - Hauts-de-Seine ]
Occupation: Communications Specialist

Biography:

Growing up in Linstead, St. Catherine, Kadie-Ann developed an early interest in languages. Curious to discover other cultures, and eager to put the language skills she acquired in university to use, she moved to Marseille, France in 2004. There she focused on integrating French society, in both the academic and business worlds, and through her involvement in community development activities, and social and cultural associations. Through it all, she has never lost touch with her Jamaican roots, and has always been a proud ambassador for brand Jamaica wherever and whenever the opportunity presents itself. Seventeen years later, her love of languages, appreciation of France and passion for Jamaica remain unchanged. Having recently relocated to Paris, she now divides her time between her job as a Communications Specialist for a French multinational, and trying to learn the ways of the Parisians.

Vision for Jaminfrance:

"At the top of the list for people living outside of their homeland is: 1. Thriving in their host country, and 2. Keeping their cultural roots alive. Based on this, my vision for JAMINFRANCE is two-fold. Firstly, help Jamaicans in France to gain the most from their French experience by fostering integration opportunities: through contacts/partnerships with other associations, businesses, schools…, by being a support network, proposing activities, and by providing practical advice about living in France. Secondly, celebrating and promoting Jamaican culture in France, and French culture in Jamaica. Allowing Jamaicans and all others in France to (re)discover our culture. And allowing those back home to learn more about France, and help strengthen the ties between both nations." - K. Fyffe
